Professional Systems Admin at Whole Foods Market Austin, TX

 Whole Foods Market is looking for a Point of Sale Systems Admin to join their Retail Technical Operations team. This role is part of a team responsible for the deployment and management of our point of sale applications and infrastructure. Day to day activities of this role includes supporting and troubleshooting issues with Point of Sale solutions, while also supporting our development and lab environments. Collaboration and communication are essential as this role will work closely with other technology teams, vendors, and business partners to build win-win relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support automated tools to perform maintenance tasks to install, configure, tests, patch, and upgrade MS server 2012 and 2016, MS Windows 10
• Works with development and engineering team to test POS software releases for deployment
• Configure, implement, monitor and maintain QA and Production environments
• Provide business- and after-hours Tier 3 support of Retail Infrastructure environment on a rotation basis
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions and/or other unsatisfactory occurrences and provide analysis and recommendations for resolution and prevention
• Provide documentation and training to Tier 2 store support teams
• Some travel may be required (0-5% annually)
• Working from home will be required on occasion
  

Basic Qualifications

• 3 years of experience with Windows 10, Server 2012 R2 (or greater), and MS Active Directory for system configuration and security policy enforcement
• Experience with Point of Sale systems
• Strong interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques
• Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, Email, HTTP, SSL, and TCP/IP protocols and application
• Experience providing remote support and troubleshooting
• Experience contributing to a knowledge base (Confluence experience preferred)
• Experience with PowerShell and PowerShell Scripting
• An ability to identify the root causes of issues by analyzing patterns and trends
• A desire to deliver to a high standard in a suitable timeframe
• Must be able to lift up to 25lbs and be comfortable working in a POS lab environment
• Performs well under pressure
• A positive attitude and outlook on life, a good sense of humor, and desire to work with & learn from a diverse group of people
  

Preferred Qualifications\Skills

• Experience with the DevOps process and tools (Ansible, SaltStack, Octopus Deploy, Jenkins, RunDeck, Git, etc)
• Experience using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
• Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server queries and reporting
• Experience working with VMware vSphere 6.x
• Splunk knowledge very beneficial
• Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to provide clarity to complex issues and synthesize large amounts of information
• Proven track record of learning new technologies
• Can commit to driving, or contributing to, the completion of high priority projects/tasks
