Loss Mitigation Specialist

 We are a fast-paced consumer finance company that offers indirect financing for vehicles for credit challenged borrowers. In this role in the Loss Mitigation department, you will work on accounts that are seriously delinquent where repossession of the Companys collateral may be necessary. You will work with borrowers, contracted recovery agencies, and other team members to mitigate potential loss to the Company. Review customers accounts and ensure each account is in good standing. Follow-up on delinquent accounts, notating actions and correspondence with borrower in the Companys loan system.

Loss Mitigation Specialist Responsibilities:

• Responsible for collecting on serious delinquent accounts.
• Handle voluntary and involuntary repossessions and reinstatements.
• Conduct advanced skip tracing as appropriate.
• Process red flag accounts such as abandoned vehicles, impounds, car breakdowns, etc.
• Handle customer inquiries and work with repo agencies, impounds and other vendors.
• Provide updates on assigned accounts; Maintain records of all contact with customers.
• Maintain records of terms agreed to for all payments.
• Review and update insurance policy information to ensure vehicles are properly insured
• Perform reviews of condition reports and invoices to ensure accuracy of collateral disposition and appropriate pricing of services rendered.
• Other duties as assigned by the Collections Manager.

Loss Mitigation Specialist Requirements:

• Ability to think outside of the box in order to resolve issues that arise
• Previous work experience in automotive finance industry, performing collections or related work.
• Excellent knowledge of collection processes; Firm but fair with resiliency in working with customers in distress.
• Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and excellent people skills.
• Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to collections, including Fair Debt Collections Practices.
• Detail oriented, dependable, reliable.
• Proficient computer and mathematical skills.
• Must be bi-lingual (Spanish).
